01Selection

Experience Behind Every Selection.

Before a single cut is made, the selection process begins at the tannery. We work with Italy's finest leather tanneries, choosing premium hides for their richness, consistency, and natural character. Every hide is carefully inspected by hand, ensuring the leather possesses the beauty, strength, and integrity worthy of a Calzoleria Toscana shoe.

02Cutting

Cut by hand, the artisan way.

Each selected hide is cut by hand using traditional shoemaking tools, allowing our artisans to work in harmony with the leather's natural grain and character. The result is a superior foundation for footwear distinguished by comfort, quality, and lasting beauty.

03Construction

Lasted, Stitched, and Crafted — One Pair at a Time.

Each upper is carefully shaped over a last before being assembled using either Blake or Blake Rapid construction. These respected Italian shoemaking methods create footwear that is flexible, durable, and designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

From one artisan’s hands to the next, every pair is carefully guided through each stage of the process with precision and care. It is this commitment to traditional craftsmanship that gives Calzoleria Toscana shoes their distinctive comfort, quality, and character.

04Our Signatures

The Finishing Touches That Define Calzoleria Toscana.

Every pair begins with exceptional materials, traditional shoemaking techniques, and meticulous attention to detail. The final character of the shoe is revealed through one of two signature finishing methods: our renowned dip-dyed process or our hand-painted technique. Both are performed by skilled artisans in Tuscany, creating depth, individuality, and a finish that cannot be replicated by machine.

Signature №1

The Dip-Dyed Process

Renowned for its remarkable softness and distinctive vintage appearance, the dip-dyed process is one of the defining signatures of Calzoleria Toscana. This artisanal technique produces rich depth of color, subtle tonal variation, and character that cannot be replicated by conventional finishing methods. Each pair develops its own unique characteristics, making every shoe truly one of a kind.

Signature №2

The Hand-Painted Technique

A true expression of Italian artistry, each shoe is individually painted by hand to create rich color, depth, and dimension. The artisan’s visible brushstrokes and subtle tonal variations give the leather its distinctive character and patina. Because every finish is created by hand, no two pairs are exactly alike.

Our artisans meticulously care for each pair as it passes through their hands, giving every shoe its own individual attention. This is more than their profession, it is what they have known and practiced for generations. From lasting and stitching to hand-painting and dip-dyeing, every stage is guided by skill, precision, and an instinct developed over decades. Until the final touch is complete, each pair remains in the hands of true shoemakers dedicated to creating footwear with distinctive character, beauty, and lasting quality.

Frequently asked

About our craft.

What is Blake construction?+

A hallmark of fine Italian shoemaking, Blake construction joins the upper, insole, and outsole with a single internal stitch. This technique creates a sleek profile, remarkable flexibility, and all-day comfort.

What does hand-burnished mean?+

Hand burnishing is a finishing technique where artisans build up layers of pigment and wax on the leather, polishing each layer by hand. This produces a multi-dimensional, antiqued finish with extraordinary depth, no two pairs are identical.

Can my Toscana shoes be resoled?+

Yes. Blake construction allows the outsole to be replaced by a skilled cobbler, helping extend the life of your shoes and preserve their comfort and appearance over time.
